What are your first thoughts when you hear about online training?

For a lot of people it’s “online training doesn’t work” or perhaps even “it’s not as well delivered as face-to-face learning”.

It’s a mentality we come across a lot; despite the fact that there are more people working from home post-lockdown and businesses have had to become a lot more flexible and agile, there’s still a lot of bad feeling out there towards online training.

And actually, we can understand why. The truth is, online training can really vary in its quality and it doesn’t always hit the mark. There are a lot of reasons why online training can be sub-par in its delivery, perhaps some of these resonate from your own experience?

  • Disengaging content
  • Clunky learning platforms
  • Poor follow-up
  • Lack of relevancy
  • Not challenging enough/too difficult
  • Poor pass rates
  • Few skills learnt Doesn’t transfer toto take on and use in the real world

The good news is, not all online training is the same and it absolutely is possible to get all the same benefits online as with face-to-face training (and in our opinion often more) if you do your research and choose the right course with an accredited provider.

Here’s why we believe online training is the perfect platform to deliver the results that you are looking for:

It is flexible to suit all of your staff needs

We know that between work, family commitments, hobbies, responsibilities and lifestyle there are a myriad of things to squeeze into your schedule. That little extra time you do have won’t necessarily fit into a neat slot at the same time, on the same day, week in and week out. When curveballs get thrown we don’t believe they should result in missed training opportunities or delayed progression for your staff. Online can be a far more inclusive way of delivering training as it can be accessed by everyone, whether that’s someone living and working from a remote part of the country, a parent with childcare commitments they need to work around, or a student combining working and studying at the same time.

Online doesn’t mean poor engagement

This is an assumption we hear time and time again, but in reality it’s far from the truth. As part of the online training we deliver, participants have access to our bespoke app, designed specifically to encourage engagement and to be user-friendly so they can make the most out of every part of the course content. Using the app means participants can access the content when they choose to and when they are able, rather than at a specific time of day. Let’s face it, when energy levels are low and concentration is lacking, engagement falls considerably; giving the choice to the participant as to when they access their training enables them to engage with learning when they are feeling ready and able to do so.

Participants can access content and online tests anytime, anywhere

Accessing online tests is a great way for students to be able to review their learning, test their knowledge and prepare for exams. We know from speaking to past participants that this is a really useful element of the course content, along with being able to access individual modules and revisit if needed. The best bit is students can access the tests whenever they want and return to them time and time again, taking the pressure off while giving them confidence in the knowledge they have gained. Designed to be used on the go, participants can access their online training in the office, at home, on the way to work, travelling on the bus or train…whenever they have a spare moment and wherever they may be!

Courses are designed for real-world learning, so skills can be taken back to the workplace

We don’t believe in participating in training just to add another line to your CV – the whole point of training is to impart new skills, gain new knowledge and be able to take this back into the workplace to elevate your capabilities and benefit the business. Our online courses are designed to do exactly that and we love to hear from past participants to find out how their training has benefited their role at work and what impact it is having on business.

To find out more about our online training courses, from Business Analysis Practice to Stakeholder Engagement, please do get in touch. As well as online we can deliver face-to-face classroom-based learning and I’d welcome the opportunity to hear more about your business and how additional training might benefit you and your staff.
