Climate change is in the news again
The issue of climate change is more prominent than ever after the recent interview with Sir David Attenborough on BBC News, and the stark message that our way of life could cause the collapse of entire cities within decades. This has reminded us all that we need to change our way of life quickly, or face the consequences.
For Martin Maya, founder of Amatis Training, this is an issue close to his heart, and he has set up his company to be as carbon-neutral as possible…
“It is very important to me that we be environmentally conscious as well as business conscious, especially in 2021. Even when I founded Amatis Training I wanted it to be a close to carbon neutral company, and I have endeavoured to keep it that way ever since.”
How Amatis Training is reducing its carbon footprint
For Amatis, it means we produce no printed material – everything is available online. No folders, brochures or printed course books are needed, which means no postage and delivery costs are required either. In fact, Amatis is the only company in its sphere to offer its training entirely online.
Even more importantly, Amatis is the only company in its sector to provide online exams. Not only does this mean no paper exams need to be sent to the candidates, then sent back to be marked, it also means that we are able to provide students with instant results. Not only are we doing our own small part to reduce emissions, we are also keeping our students happy! And with the close to 100% pass rate Amatis generates, they are definitely happy!
Creating change as a Business Analyst
Of course, by becoming a Business Analyst, you will be able to help steer the carbon consumption of the company you are working for or with. Environmental influences are important to a company’s strategy and future growth. Amatis’ Foundation in Business Analysis course quotes from New Rules for the New World: ‘The world is constantly changing, and organisations are falling behind the change curve’. As a Business Analyst you can be behind the strategy to keep pace with the change.
New carbon requirements and green initiatives are being introduced by Governments worldwide, and you can be on the ground level of implementing feasible, effective solutions that meet these new initiatives within your company’s growth and efficiency strategy. In the UK, we are working towards cutting greenhouse gas emissions by at least 100% of 1990 levels by 2050. This was initially outlined in the Climate Change Act of 2008, and amended in 2019 to specify net zero emissions. As a Business Analyst, you will find ways to help your business meet these targets in a way that benefits your company.
If fighting climate change is important to you, a Business Analyst career will allow you to create change within your industry, and drive organisations to become the change that is needed.
